Industry: Nonprofit / Urban Forestry & Environmental
Location: South Florida (Boca Raton, FL)
Community Greening is a legitimate, well-organized nonprofit with real impact, 28,500+ trees planted, partnerships with the Arbor Day Foundation, membership in One Percent for the Planet, and active programs spanning tree giveaways, youth teams, urban orchards, and municipal partnerships. But impact alone doesn't keep a nonprofit funded and growing. They needed a website that could clearly communicate their mission, organize a complex portfolio of programs, and most importantly convert casual visitors into donors, volunteers, and partners.
What I Built
I developed the full Wix website focused on three conversion goals: donations, volunteer sign-ups, and community engagement. Key deliverables included:
A clean, animated homepage hero with dual CTAs, "Who We Are" for first-time visitors and "Watch the Video" for those who need more emotional connection before committing
A live tree counter (28,523 trees planted) displayed prominently on the homepage, a simple but powerful trust signal that shows real, measurable impact
A full program directory covering 13 distinct programs (Tree Giveaways, Tree Plantings, Urban Orchards, Youth Tree Team, City Partnerships, and more), each with its own dedicated page and clear next-step CTA
An integrated event calendar with upcoming tree giveaway and volunteer day listings, keeping the community informed and driving repeat visits
An interactive tree map (via PG Cloud integration) allowing visitors to see every tree planted since 2016, a unique engagement tool that builds emotional investment in the mission
A streamlined donation page with a clear nonprofit registration disclosure and Candid/Charity Navigator badges for donor trust
A "Get Involved" hub consolidating volunteer signup, partnership inquiry, newsletter subscription, and event calendar into one clear pathway
Contact forms for both general inquiries and partnership outreach, with separate mailing and nursery addresses clearly displayed
Social media integration across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and LinkedIn, maximizing content reach for a community-driven organization
The Results
13 program pages properly structured and indexed, meaning each specific program (e.g. "Youth Tree Team," "Urban Orchards," "Pick Up & Grow") can be discovered independently through Google searches, not just through the homepage
Live impact counter on the homepage (28,523 trees) works as a real-time trust signal, studies consistently show that specific numbers outperform vague claims in driving nonprofit donations and volunteer sign-ups
Donor credibility reinforced on every page with Candid (GuideStar), Charity Navigator, Arbor Day Foundation, and One Percent for the Planet badges, reducing the hesitation first-time donors feel before giving to an unfamiliar organization
Event calendar integrated directly on the homepage, reducing the number of clicks between landing on the site and registering for a community event, which directly increases event attendance and volunteer acquisition
Interactive tree map embedded on the site, giving existing supporters a reason to return, share, and stay engaged between events, improving long-term donor retention
Newsletter signup prominently positioned in the Get Involved section, building the organization's owned email audience for long-term fundraising campaigns independent of social media algorithms
Mobile-responsive across all pages, critical for a community-focused organization whose audience engages heavily on mobile, especially at outdoor events where people scan QR codes or search on the spot
